A DIFFERENT KIND OF CELEBRATION

They say life begins at 40—but now I think... 70 is where another exciting chapter of life begins.

I’ve always loved a good celebration. I’m that woman on the mic, in sparkles, getting everyone on the dance floor before the second verse even drops. I’ve hosted weddings, birthdays,  reunions, community events—you name it. But when it comes to my own birthday parties? That’s where I draw the line.

Years ago, my beloved husband tried to throw me a surprise party. I found out (of course I did!) and stopped it. He was so disappointed, and from that moment, we made a pact—no more big birthday parties for either of us. Just intentional, meaningful celebration.

So when I turned 70 this year, there was no party. But there was purpose and meaning.

I chose to mark this milestone with a visit to GUIMARAS ISLAND,  a place close to my heart and home.

I toured COCOMANGO farm  plantation (among others)  and was so impressed by how every tree is monitored, numbered, and cared for with precision. It reminded me of life itself—each of us in our own season, requiring different care, growing at our own pace, and still bearing fruit.

The number on each tree is for monitoring. With that, workers know when to spray and until when to harvest.

This trip came just one month after flying home from New Zealand, where all three of my children now live and thrive. Seeing them settled and joyful was the greatest gift I could ask for. My heart is full knowing they are living good lives, weaving their own life story. Of course, my own lifestory continues.   There’s still so much to see, learn, and celebrate.

And so begins this new chapter: Wellbeing with Ms Bing. A space for me to reflect, travel with purpose, reconnect with family and friends across the world, and nurture my wairua—my spirit—through all the seasons of life.

At 70, I feel more grounded, getting a deeper connection with my inner self. No party? No problem. This celebration of life doesn’t need a ballroom. It begins here, in these stories. And i will take you with me, if you want to come along.

The adventure continues...
